Teen Karate – Dealing with the stress of exams

It is that time of the year again. Our Teen karate students are getting ready for their upcoming revision and exams this summer. Whether it is their GCSE’s, A-levels or vocational it can become a very stressful time in their school career.

Can you remember how stressful it was for you?

As a parent we want them to have the best tools to be successful and achieve great results. Your Active Hertfordshire Karate club want to be there to help them use skills they have learnt in their classes and implement them towards their revision for the days ahead.

Karate is a great way to get anxiety and stress under control with different techniques that they get from their training. This can be from taking charge of their body and mind and understanding their needs in different situations.

A martial artist is taught to see, feel, and listen – both internally and externally.

Regular breaks are a key part of revision

We know that time is precious for the next few months and revision takes priority so it would be very easy for them to miss their karate lesson and other social activities but we want you to know that taking regular breaks and attending their karate sessions will only be beneficial to them. By taking the much needed break from the books it will help refresh the body and balance the mind which in turn will help them get back to their scheduled revision and school motivated.

Hydrate by drinking water regularly

Eat as healthily as possible (an apple a day…as they say)

Taking fresh air

Exercising (which is where a Karate class would come in). One hour a week is all it takes to generate energy and dump stress

By taking the much needed break from the books it will help refresh the body and balance the mind which in turn will help them get back to their scheduled revision and school wotk

Is one of their five Karate promises that we follow so we know that our teen karate students work hard towards everything they do.

If you feel that your child is struggling to keep their stress and anxiety under control please speak to our instructors. Your teenagers need to know it is normal to feel this way but not to close up about how they are feeling.

Show support to others

We support one another in our groups and this helps at times of stress.

To all our teen karate students it is important to support your peers so if you notice any of your classmates that may need help then why not invite them to come to one of our classes with you.
